Chelsea High School
Many students at Chelsea High School receive special education support to suceed in their regular classes. Some students, however, benefit from having a special education teacher be their primary instructor for acdemic classes. In this way, instruction can be adapted to focus on key course concepts and provide hands-on opportunities for learning with a smaller adult to student ratio.
Chelsea High School is the site of the Program for Independent Living Skills. The program addresses the diverse needs of students from our district. While students' learning needs vary considerably, the broad goal of the program is to prepare students for independent living. In addition to continuing academic instruction, the program includes vocational education and the development of daily living skills (such as cooking and understanding personal finances). Much of the instruction takes place in the community settings, such as local businesses and job sites. Our focus can be conceptualized by the chart above.
