AFTER SCHOOL CARE

Welcome to the Chelsea School District Afterschool Care Program.  We provide safe and affordable care for Chelsea School District young fives/kindergarten through fifth grade students before and after school and during non-school days.  We believe that children need to enjoy their experience here in a safe and enriching learning environment.

The afterschool care program will be housed in the 400 building of the Washington Street Education Center during the 2022-23 school year.  This program is a state-licensed child care program and is supervised by our full day preschool and childcare director, Sarah Barth.  Her contact information is below.

Each afternoon students will board the school bus at North Creek or South Meadows and be shuttled directly to Washington Street.  Afterschool care participants will not be involved in the afternoon bus transfer.  Once students arrive at Washington Street, they will have an afternoon snack followed by free choice, structured play, outdoor time and other activities.

On all scheduled half-days and some full days where school is not in session, we will offer half-day or full day care as well.  There are separate registrations for these additional days, with separate pricing as well.  Families can choose to register for as many of these non-school days as they would like.  On days where the District is closed due to inclement weather, we will evaluate each day individually to determine a plan for a delayed opening and being able to still provide care for families who need it.

After care begins each afternoon once students arrive on the bus from North Creek and South Meadows (approximately 3:00 p.m.) and students must be picked up by the end of each day at 5:30 p.m.

Below you will find several pieces of information, including our pricing, school year schedule and our frequently asked questions.  Families can expect that the 2022-23 rates will be as follows:

• Initial payment: $50 registration per child + $50 down payment = $100
   
• After-school care: $16.32 per day
• Half-day of school: $36.72 per day
• Non-school day: $61.20 per day
