COMMUNITY CENTER

Come join us for the 2019 Winter Break Community Center Days!  The Community Center will be Wednesday, January 2 and Thursday, January 3 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. each day.  The gym and batting cage will be open each day! There is also a full schedule of classes and activities that will be fun and engaging that you can participate in each day.  This schedule is posted below.

Young children can not be left alone, however we will have an option for participants 10 years old and up to file their paperwork to be able to come on their own. Members who are under 10 years old can come with parent or guardian over 14 years old.

Participation in all these fun events and activities will only cost you $1 per person each day.  Bringing the whole family?  It's $5 for the whole group.  If you purchased a full summer membership in 2018, you get in for free!

What is the Community Center?  Just use your imagination...

The Chelsea Community Center is a community effort by a group of interested citizens and members of the community to create a center for people of all ages to engage in activities and programs across a broad range of interests.  The facility at the Washington Street Education Center (WSEC) is already home to some groups involved in the project.  Community Education and Chelsea Seniors are housed on the WSEC campus.  Other groups who are interested in the project include SRSLY, Chelsea Soccer Club, local service groups and local artists.

The facility in it's current state includes multiple buildings available for use.  Four of the seven buildings on the site are in use and available for additional use.  The main building (100 building) is the home of Chelsea Seniors.  This building is the focus of the Community Center movement, as it also houses a full-size competition gym, full-service auditorium, full-service cafeteria and multiple meeting spaces for a variety of needs.

The campus also includes multiple football/soccer practice fields and auxiliary baseball and softball fields.  The intergenerational garden is located adjacent to the Chelsea Seniors.  The Chelsea Community Preschool and Chelsea Cooperative Preschool both call the campus their home.  Washtenaw Community College, All-Star Driver Training, and many community groups use spaces for classes and weekly meetings as well.

Anyone interested in knowing more about the project is welcome to contact us.  We are always looking for anyone else who would like to be involved in the project!
