School Cancellation Process
How will the district determine if school needs to be closed, and what factors would be considered for reopening?
The Chelsea School District has been assured by public health officials that closing our school is unwarranted at this time and could create unintended consequences that would hurt their efforts to protect our community. We will remain in close contact with public health officials throughout the duration of this threat and comply with all of their guidance. We will alert students, staff, and families if we receive health department direction related to a COVID-19 case connected to the Chelsea School District. If a decision was made to close school, we would await guidance from the Washtenaw County Health Department to provide a timeline and reopening instructions.
Is the district prepared for long-term closure?
The Chelsea School District has established a leadership team to plan for next steps in addressing coronavirus in our school community. In the event of a long-term closure, efforts would be made for provision of distance-based learning for students (i.e. remote learning opportunties, community channel broadcast, etc.) to maintain continuity of education.
